Ali the Shiny Sparkly Unicorn

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to chat with Ali Villani, author of Ali the Shiny Sparkly Unicorn. Ali is very bubbly, positive and sparkly and wanted to write a children’s book about being yourself and that being different is what makes us special.

Ali drew on her own personal experiences as a child growing up and the realisation of being the shiny, sparkly unicorn wasn’t always easy or accepted. If you stood out or dared to be yourself, things were not always going to be plain sailing. Following the advice from her mum, Ali made her way through her primary and secondary years of schooling with such resilience and determination empowering those around her.

Ali the Shiny Sparkly Unicorn is a beautifully illustrated picture story book which has a clear message for young readers today. Being yourself is not easy, yet so important and sadly what comes with being a shiny, sparkly unicorn can test us all.
